‘Nonplussed’ should mean the opposite of its real meaning.
To say someone is ‘nonplussed’ conjures up the image of a cool, relaxed person dealing with a difficult situation.
“Did you know Roger’s a brain surgeon who hangs out with the remaining Doobie Brothers on the weekend while advising the President on the Middle East? He’s so nonplussed!”
